== Details ==<br />
* Das Viertel liegt zwischen ''North Ave'' im Norden und ''Division'' im Süden.<br />
* Es war ursprünglich eine Wohnviertel der deutschen Migranten, die besonders in Chicago sehr zahlreich waren.<br />
* Diese besiedelten die Gegend ab den [[1850]]er-Jahren.<br />
* Davon zeugen noch heute viele Namen, wie bsp. ''Schiller St.'', ''Goethe St.'', ''Wieland St.'', ''Germania Place'' oder der hier ansässige ''Germania Club''.<br />
* Das Viertel prosperierte damals. Auch heute sind noch viele prachtvolle Gebäude im viktorianischen Stil erhalten.<br />
* In den [[1950]]er-Jahren siedelten sich dann vermehrt [[Puerto Rico|Puerto Ricaner]] und andere [[Latino]]s in dem Viertel an.<br />
* In den [[1960]]er-Jahren war das Viertel dann ein Zentrum der [[Hippie]]s.<br />
* Es wurde damals auf ein Zentrum der örtlichen [[Folkmusik]]szene (berühmt war u.a. der Folkclub ''Mother Blues'') und eine Hochburg der [[Homosexualität|Schwulen]].<br />
* Heute ist das Viertel historisch aufgemöbelt, und beherbergt viele Boutiquen, Antiquitätengeschäfte und originelle Restaurants.<br />
