Das Bild zeigt Roche als zweijähriges, verarmtes Kind. <br /> <br /> == Biographie ==<br /> <br /> Roche wuchs in Lamerth, Südlondon auf. Seine Eltern hatten zehn Kinder, die sie vernachlässigten, misshandelten und hungern ließen. 1965 wurde das Foto von Roche aufgenommen. Es wurde unter anderem von der National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children benutzt, um Geld für arme Kinder zu sammeln. Roche selbst profitierte jedoch nicht von dem Foto. Zwar wurde ein weiteres Foto aufgenommen, auf dem er einen Duffelcoat trug und einen Teddy im Arm hatte und in der Zeitung des Vereins veröffentlicht. Das Foto sollte zeigen, wie sich seine Lage angeblich gebessert hatte. Es war jedoch gestellt. Teddy und Duffecoat wurden ihm nach dem Foto wieder abgenommen.<br /> Für Roche selbst änderte sich nichts. Mit 14 Jahren verließ er - damals kaum des Lesens und Schreibens kundig - die Schule. Er nahm eine Reihe von ungelernten Tätigkeiten an und wurde Vater von zehn Kindern.
